cpk is not for me

i've never been one to "put myself out there" or "proactively flirt." but one day i went with a friend to california pizza kitchen, which always makes me feel better about myself thanks to the thai crunch salad. this particular day, i was not only feeling better about myself but i was also feeling mighty out-of-character/brave/delusional...or if you choose to use your own adjective, that works too. our waiter was a strapping young man (which means he was cute in non-romance noval terminology)

i decided while munching on my edamame that i was going to poo-poo my non-proactive ways and flat out ask this waiter out. the problem with putting your mind to something is that you tend to ignore other things along the way...like for example, the way this waiter stood, or batted his eyes, or had an earring in his right ear...i didn't notice though - i was determined. i approached him and said something to the cheesy effect of "hey, i'm not sure if you're dating someone but if not, do you want to go out to dinner sometime?" and he said something to the lispy effect of "no, i'm not dating anybody and dinner would be fun. i hope you don't mind that i like boys." (maybe he used the word "gay" but i'll remember my story how i want). (p.s. i would strongly recommend clicking on that link and then listening to the pronunciation). i'm pretty sure i said something like "of course you are" and walked away. i really don't even think i said goodbye or anything...

so that's it - i've never made strong initial flirt actions again. the worst part is that my mom was in town the next weekend and wanted to go to cpk. we had the same waiter and my mom said something to the effect of "he's cute - you should ask him out." thanks mom

i read once in mars and venus on a date that if you want to ask out a guy you ask him to fix something or lift something or move something or do something that involves tools, cars or blowing things up. fine i added the blowing things up bit. but apparently you should NEVER ask a boy to dinner. that was mistake number one. that and the boy was gay.

hey -- you did right. at least you have no regrets. balls out, err... nevermind. that reminds me...

wow i never knew that punk rock girl - i guess i figured if he works at a restaurant he likes food, right? then again i guess i figured if he's a boy he likes girls. we can't be right all the time.

..and i'm a little concerned what you're reminded of oldenough...

yeah i never knew it either. and i dont think boys know it either. like last time i asked some boy to help move my couch they didnt try to kiss me good night and he didnt say he had a nice time or anything that should happen post date. so i think the whole theory might be flawed.

i guess maybe you should have asked him to sit in your hammock with you

let me just clarify, i went to write a whole post on regrets... which firefox then decided to eat. i gave up on the post, and now that comment dangles awkwardly--imagine it with a hyperlink.

i recently was asked what my biggest regret was. i am now changing my answer to kissing matt merrell. yes that is his real name. i dont even care. he gave me blue lips and they were sore for days. there is no excuse for that.

I started off hating CPK, but then my friend's took me there for my 24th birthday and the waitress was a dish (not literally), so I decided it wasn't too bad. Then, my friend Chuck started working there. He'd get us free drinks and crap. He also hooked the jack up with the pretty waitress from my birthday. I started hating it again when they fired Chuck's a_s because some nutty lady made a complaint that had no merit and CPK needed to make an example out of somebody. A year later, Becky bought us frozen CPK pizzas and we ate them in HB.

So, anyway, I'm kind of up in the air about my feeling for CPK.

the author of this cpk blog requested we listen to the pronunciation of the word "gay." i followed her direction and had such a great time. i clicked on it a few times in fact. i have now compliled a remixed rap version of dictionary voice pronouncing "gay" and graham russell from "air supply" singing "all out of love."

Are you being real? I don't think I'd be able to stop laughing.

look i really did listen to "gay" over and over. it was fun. i take this blog to heart. this was just after attending an air supply concert, of which i am also serious. i went up to the front and touched russell hitchcock's hand two times. i have not since washed it. i love you too ck. we might need to all have a blog family party sometime.
