sticky notes and smelly markers

bless their hearts. their conversational hearts that is. my roommate and her boyfriend (now fiance') take it to the limit every time. and they don't even like the eagles. on every month anniversary, both parties participate in junior high exchanges of lovey dovey chocolatey sticky note flowered homemade card goodness. i believe they are on their 10th month of dating- due to marry in june. just precious. this brings me to pownder on the whole concept of anniversaries. (and yes i pownder...not ponder. it's different) one month the fiance' decorated roommate's car with sticky notes after church. another month she received a dozen roses and a new pony. well the pony never made it but i'm sure it tried. poems, scavenger hunts, and framed pictures of their relationship bliss adorn her bedroom dresser..all products of such anniversaries. please hold. thank you for holding. i would now like to share some specific quesitons with you...results of my powndering:

  • if a couple celebrates every month...what is it called? a month-a-sary?

  • if one of the brothers and i started dating, what would our first monthasary gift be? maybe i could get brother #1 a missionary pillow case.

  • do certain parties in a relationship (perhaps you the reader) feel driven by guilt to participate in obligatory monthasary rituals?

  • and finally, is a monthasary related to a monastery in any way?
with love, hearts, snuggly wuggly cotton pajamas and singing telegrams,

i lived with andrea as well. it was fun because she would ask me things she should do and i would tell her things i thought about doing in jr. high but vetoed even back then as being too cheesy. damn i miss that girl.

i think the danger in the overabundance of displanning your affection and having such so many dating rituals is that if that stuff ever stops you might start to doubt their love or affection. its scary to put so much importance in gestures such as that.

you just have to ask yourself do i want my love to be summed up by a car covered in post-it notes?

the answer to that question is yes, as long as each post-it note has "i heart u" written on it.

holy...old enough. how did you get that picture. that is one sweet kodak moment. perhaps you all can see how this sticky note gig would be addicting. can't freakin wait til monthasary #11. wonder what they will come up with. oh and i decided if i ever have one with the brothers, i will give them a kmart picture of me. i can't think of a better gift really.

believe it or not, that picture was taken by my friend, on byu campus, several weeks back, as said friend was walking to church. ahhh, just believe it. at what other campus would this happen?

that being said if some kid did that to my car it might make me love him...but if i already knew its probably a waste of paper.

i choose not to believe it (since i was given a choice).

also, is it just me, or does "monthasary" not roll off the tongue all that well? how about "monthaversary"? anyone? anyone?

monthaversary is worse... that's what you get for not believing.

one time a boyfriend of mine was so excited to see me when i came home from vacation that he brought me a loaf of bread. isn't that cute?

natali said...

depends. white or wheat?

i think it was that delightful potato bread they used to sell at food4less. what a shame that place went under

in case anyone was wondering...sticky notes were invented in 1980. didn't we all think it was much earlier? furthermore, if my boyfriend stuck slices of potato bread on my car for our m-sary..now that would be love.
