dinner tonight

my mom had her annual dating pep talk tonight. apparently i am supposed to go to church to meet a boy and bring him to my nephews first birthday party on friday because i am too cute to die alone (to be fair i was the one that brought up the possibility of dying alone and probably of cancer).

the pep talk didnt go over well.

my parents never give me dating pep talks. do you think its because they think i don't date and therefore a dating pep talk would hurt my feelings? geez, mom, just because i didn't go to prom doesn't mean i'm 29 and still dateless. that being said, i am SO glad my family dinners don't involve dating pep talks. i like family dinners with george and carolyn a lot, though, regardless of the topic of conversation.

I distinctly remember the days when my mother would swear to me that she'd never be pushy about me finding a guy. Now, I can't have a conversation with her without hearing about how I'm just not looking in the right places, etc...I feel like there should be a more serious punishment for breaking a swear.

if you want to come over to my house my mom will give you a dating pep talk. she is on a roll. last night she wanted to know if i was going to hold shane's hand during the movie. hmm yeah that boy i dated like 5 years ago and it endly badly to very badly and you couldnt even say his name until 2006. that shane? probably not going to hold his hand...

when moms give pep talks they should at least use pon-poms and a mega phone. i agree with becky, george and carolyn are a good time. give me a corn dog and i'm yours for life.
